The straw that broke.....

beau·ty/ˈbyo͞otē/Noun

1. A combination of qualities, such as shape, color, or form, that pleases the aesthetic senses, esp. the sight.
2. A combination of qualities that pleases the intellect or moral sense.

Dudes.. I am pissed. I've actually BEEN pissed for a few months now, but I finally decided to just say FUCK IT and write up a not so pleasing post as to WHY  I'm pissed. Let's take this little GEM of a shitty blog for example. Ok, NO, she's isn't "criticizing" me, YET, but she's blatantly making fun of some fellow beauty bloggers for no apparent reason other than pointing out the flaws in their makeup "looks."  What's more is that she's taking photos from their blog without their permission to rip apart their makeup.

THAT was the straw that broke my silence.

Which brings me to this...everyone and their MOM has a blog these days.  I'm cool with that, really. I am. The more beauty blogs, the better.... IF the quality of the blog is good. If you're creating a blog for fun and to show off your fun makeup orders and stashes, more power to you- write what you want and I'll read it cause I like it! But if you're creating a blog to do, let's say.. serious swatches, reviews, etc of companies and makeup, make sure your swatches are clear, make sure you LINK to the company or product in your review. And don't get so damn defensive when someone points out that your BLOG SUCKS! Ok..that was a little over the top for me. I really do give everyone the benefit of the doubt, it's just my nature. But I will say one thing for sure, if you're a newbie blogger and you're hounding indie companies on Etsy all day and getting free shit to review, I DO have an issue with that. I spent tonz of money in the beginning of my blogging days (I still do) because I didn't want to seem like I was begging for free samples. It's taken a while for me to build a base of companies who trust me enough to send me swag to review. I EARNED IT. It was not handed to me. And these blogs that get so much shit for free and produce a half ass, lame review really jerks me off. NOT in a good way. And PLEASE do your research before making a blog post. Research the company, research the brand, the ingredients, the owner BEFORE you make a post about the company possibly being a re-packager, you hate their packaging, the owner didn't send you FREE shit with your order..think before you POST!

And speaking of re-packagers, what's up with all of these companies stealing photos from other companies or not hand making the shit they claim to have hand made? I'm talking to you ORGLAMIX, Glittersniffer, Bitchslap!, etc.  And then just disappear off the face of the earth like nothing ever happened? (ORGLAMIX!) Because beauty blogging is now so damn popular, you'd think these companies would know better than to try and be sneaky little rats and basically steal everyones hard earned money and trust. GOOGLE people. You're not invisible on the internetz. NOW, we (I) can't really trust ANY new company. I've actually digressed and started just dealing and using with the companies I know and love because of all the drama out there these days. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Makeup is FUN, it's suppose to be fun, it's suppose to make people happy and glittery and take away from all the other shit in the real world. But recently when I get online and read all the drama about NYX or Glittersniffer, or whatever, it makes me want to turn off my PC, walk away, and vomit..or eat ice cream. I have 3 kids at home and that's stressful, I blog because I love it and it takes me away from reality for a little while. PLEASE don't take that away from me.

I've been lucky enough to stay under the radar of "hate" on my blog..I guess we'll see if that changes after this post. LOL This is my opinion however, and it's been brewing for some time. I am just too reserved *snicker snicker* to say anything about it. Now, I don't really care. It needs to be said. And you'll rarely see rants from me like this, so savor it and please come back for more! MUAHAHAHAH!

Until tomorrow. HOPEFULLY!

  1. Vera (from that first blog, which I shall not ennoble by naming it) seems to be screaming, "Like me!! Like me!! Like me more than these people who I'm putting down, even though I know nothing about them or why they wear their makeup like that or even that it's O-Fucking-Kay for people to have different tastes in hair style, clothing, jewelry, and makeup! Because I'm such a sad little oxygen thief! VALIDATE ME!!!"

    *le sigh*

Don't let drama and asshats ruin your fun! Just enjoy what you do and let the rest hang themselves...they always do!

  3. As i always say Jealousy is the ugliest thing a person can wear, and anyone that makes a point to simply criticize and bring others down there is always some form of underlying jealousy. I'm new to the beauty blogging world (although my focus is in other areas as well) It seems like there is a lot of unnecessary drama and hatred, which is a shame. Hopefully the negative and jealous people will learn to focus their issues into fixing their selves and leave others out of it. Also another thing I say to people, is why fit in if you are born to stand out. We are all different, we all have a different styles and sizes and all. People should learn to embrace differences and learn from them, isn't that the point to life, to learn?

  4. Wow! I am appauled by that blog! I've been trying to stay away from drama, so I'll keep this short. Thanks for sharing this with us. I can't believe how low some people will go. And I'm with Evil Angel, keep doing what your are doing and have fun with it!

  5. I've never heard of that blog until now, and for good reason: the "author" can't even be arsed to use high school level English. The writing quality is so poor, it's like nails on a chalkboard.

Said "author" is a drama whore, looking for an excuse to act like a bish. That's the only reason the "blog" exists.

  6. Gah I saw that blog earlier when phyrra posted it. It made me want to scream. I'm glad you made this post because I was contemplating making a post and I think I've made enough. haha

I agree with you wholeheartedly. It's sad that a post like this even needs to be thought about let alone typed.

  7. Takes a lot of balls to take someone's picture from their own blog. Even if you credit their photo, it's still uncouth.

@Amanda. I really don't see much drama in the blog world, perhaps it's the blogs I read. I like to be informed, and I enjoy Manda, Wendi, Courtney and several others.

The internet community used to lose their minds when people linked to their photos and messed with their bandwith. There will always be a measure of drama.

  8. Holy shit. Yeah, that's just unnecessary to devote a blog to talking trash like that. These women she criticizes are AWESOME and I wish I had half the talent and courage to experiment with my makeup like they do (you included)!

And you know, I've been apathetic for a while due to all the drama going on too. I'd hear bad crap about a company I used to like, then I just chuck the product away because I feel I can't trust most companies anymore.

I don't want to sound like I'm sitting here mouthing off; I just want to show that I empathize with you entirely on what you were discussing. I try to be really reserved too, but I really feel the same way. It's fine to voice it sometimes!

  9. Holy cow, what a mean spirited lady (term used loosely) she is. Instead of being creative herself, she decides to mock those with originality and call it a blog. Poo on her, I say! Poo!

  10. Whenever I see something like this, I get all dopey and mumble something about how drama-llamas lack that "beauty on the inside" riff. Cliched, but true.

  11. Makeup critic, indeed. Wow. It's sad to see that someone wants to dedicate their time to destroying someone else's passion. I mean, I believe that everyone has a right not only to their opinion, but to voice that opinion--but there is a thin line between stating your dislike for something and being hateful. It's just uncalled for.

I know that I'm a new face around here, and definitely am not, by any definition, a quality blogger. but I've been lucky to see how caring and supportive the majority of the bloggers out here are. And we can't forget that. <3

You ladies just keep being beautiful and let the haters hate.

  12. Wow!! What a clueless little bitch!! NO concept of art or anything! That manicure- can you believe she referred to that as a "bright" color!! lmao!! If she knows so damn much where are here FOTD or NOTDs???? Hmm?? Go Evil Angel for such wonderful commmentary!! That was more educational than the blog itself!! I think comments may be turned off now, lol. I didn't see an option to leave any :D

  13. I've been lucky enough to avoid a lot of the drama so far in my short blogging experience. I love blogging for the sense of community. It's fun to be around people who are as passionate about your hobby as you are. There is only so much makeup talk my boyfriend can take, although he tries, bless his heart. I think the amount of people who do wrong in out community is small, just like they say how cream rises to the top, I guess shit does too. The things you mentioned may not seem like a big deal to outsiders, but it's a big deal to us because it is our passion and our escape. there are always going to be shitty people, but I've found the majority of the ones I've encountered so far to be completely awesome. And I feel sorry for people who have to fuel their existence with hate. What a miserable, lonely life that must be.

  14. A paranoid part of me wonders if it's someone (ie. a former business??) that has been called out by beauty bloggers in the past, and is now seeking some sort of sad pathetic "revenge."

Anyways - it could be like a badge of honour if you get attacked by her. You could all get buttons saying "Stupid hates me."

    ReplyDelete
  15. Just what we need - someone who thinks they know everything I can't believe she actually identifies herself & her poor expertise for critiquing!

  16. The author's primary language does not appear to be English. At least that's what I'm hoping, since when you're going to nitpick someone else's work, yours should be flawless.

Personally, I prefer PeopleofWalmart.com when I want to laugh at someone.

  17. Makeup should be fun! I love reading the makeup blogs for their creativity and to see the colors before I buy something. I also enjoy seeing pictures with lashes stuck together and nail polish on the cuticles because I do it too. If I want to look at "expertly applied makeup"-I'll read a cosmetics ad.
I'll admit to have gone and looked at that train wreck of a blog but I didn't comment. Trolls tend to go away when they're not fed.

  18. Clearly her idea of 'beauty' does not include personality, individuality, variety or anything else interesting or intelligent. She sounds like someone who failed English class and got all her beauty ideas and expertise by reading one issue of Glamour. Too bad she's too young to remember Robert Palmer videos, since she obviously thinks all women should look like a generic, artificial bunch of identical trend-bots to be attractive. Seriously, who died and put her in charge? Her so-called expert opinions aren't even worth considering.

  19. Oh dang, you go, you rant allll you want, because that is what the intent is here for! I don't know about the rest of your readers, but if i've ever wanted a voice to speak against the various injustice mentioned above, i would chose yours. I LOVE my blog and it's something i look forward to nearly every day. We can't let these twats ruin it for us.

  20. and this is why I read your blog :) I'm checking out makeupcritic right now. I was unaware that new beauty bloggers could hound people on Etsy to give them free products.. that really does seem like cheating to me. I'm new and still trying to get a grasp on what's good and what's bad in blogging, but I'm doing it on my own.. not hounding Etsy people. Laaaame.

    ReplyDelete
  21. This is why I love your blog. :)

  22. That MakeupCritic such needs to be punched in the face >__<

  23. Erm, that was supposed to read 'bitch' not such......I swear I'm not drunk!

  24. God that blog was horrifyingly hateful, incredibly discourteous, and a complete disaster to read. If I actually knew her I think I'd be mortified by the association.

I'm with you, I try to avoid the negativity and drama, especially on my own page/blog, but I feel situations like this--as with any form of disrespecting others (including your customers) or "pressure to conform" to a terrifyingly Stepford ideal--beg for backlash and bless you, Wendi, for delivering it in style.

  25. Someone linked me to that blog this morning and I just don't even know. If I gave a shit about what any of these haters sites said about me I would have given up blogging and youtube long ago.

What's even funnier is that she's chosen one of my favourite FOTDs I've ever done.

Stop giving her traffic and ignore the site, it'll go away eventually.

    ReplyDelete
  26. *high fives* That blog is horrid and so are all the companies that think they can make money off just micas or other unsafe shit. The best we can do is educate ourselves and refuse to let shitty haters let us down! :D

    ReplyDelete
  27. Seriously - what kind of person wakes up in the morning and decides: if everyone did things my way, they'd be perfect? I'm going to tell them all how! Who does that? Besides Charlie Sheen, that is.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I saw this earlier... wouldn't it make more sense not to give her any attention? Linking her will just help her with search engines and stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm appalled too....and what Pegs said was my first thought actually. LOL....I'm choosing to ignore her.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Wow, what a hateful bitch.
Unfortunately, that's what happens when you start a blog and you post pictures of your eyes, face, hands, or whatever on the internet. You open yourself up to friendships and fun, but also to dirty, blackhearted trolls who live under old rickety bridges and have no one to love them. Like this Vedra girl. But there's no point in getting mad...just gotta charge it to the game and keep it moving. *pops and locks into the sunset*

    ReplyDelete
  31. But I will say that it's laughable how she claims that she's just trying to make the posts more useful for readers. How is she gonna tell ME what's useful FOR ME? Ahahahahahahahahaha #dumbbytch

  32. This stuff continues to disappoint me although it's hardly new to the internet in any community online.

Trolling the beauty community is nothing new. Youtube, forums, etc. have all seen it. I found a forum online just about a week ago where they were trashing EVERY Youtube beauty guru online that infuriated me. I've also been thankful I'm an unknown with my blog.

I'm a licensed esthetician and I wouldn't say I'm perfect, but my blog is there to share what expertise I've been gaining by continuing my education/experimenting and to focus on the upstart of my business. Blogs are there to freely express ourselves however we want to. If you don't like it then move onto the next one. It takes 20 times more effort and energy to spend trashing the blog/person than is even worth it in the end unless you are just a spiteful, ugly, and rude brat.

I quite honestly wouldn't pay a second to that blog you've presented. The picture of the owner does not in the least match the poor English and grammar she uses within her entire site. It reads as if written by a very young child which alone is driving me crazy. I have a real problem with reading gibberish written like that because my brain just can't wrap itself around it.

My immediate thought after being pissed at her trolling is ever hear of reading a post again to check for spelling and grammar flow. If she wants to be taken seriously herself it should at least project a good image online visually and literately.

    ReplyDelete
  33. O-M-G! I just read her first post and I agree with the above comment. If you're going to pick apart what you believe to be every single flaw, then you should at least do so with proper English! And in her About Me "Above all else, I want to mention about my mother who teaches me to value and love the beauty.".....if that was true, she wouldn't be picking apart people for no good reason.

  34. The author to that blog really sickens me. How dare she criticize others make up and techniques. Makeup is meant to be artistic, wild, muted, or fun looking. It is whatever you want it to be. We put on makeup to reflect our mood, match our outfit or make a statement.

She is just someone who wants to cause drama in the community. She herself probably applies makeup like a 5 year old. She gives absolutely no helpful insight about these looks. She bitches about them being cut crease. Well hello if you are great at doing a cut crease I envy you personally! I have issues doing it myself and just end up blending it all out.

She is a loser simple as that. Anyone and everyone should see she is full of it, move on and eventually she should go away.

  35. Well said, hon!
I love reading your blog and many others, to share the passion we have. I love all the blogs I read and their authors, they're like close virtual bff's. I get tons of inspiration, fun and lemmings from them lol.
I cherish every follower I have and I love the comments and the time people take to look at my stuff. Share the passion, that's what it's all about imo.
I blog to express my happiness with my obsession and if I can inspire one person, of put a smile on someone's face, or can make someone feel better cause they're waaaay better with makeup than I am, my day is made!
Sad to see the 'smallness' of some people....

  36. I'm sorry, and I don't usually cuss through this profile... But what the fuck is that twunt's problem?!
Seriously- like her opinion should count as anything??? She sounds like she has no friends, can't keep any because of her awful attitude, and was probably part of "The Plastics" group in school... A typical mean girl.

Bitches like that piss me the hell off, and I'm right there with you Wendi- this chick needs to STFU and get offline. It's one thing to criticize constructively, but to be outright vicious?? Absolutely uncalled for.
I think I'll be looking for pictures of her, then we can have a "Make fun of the Donkey" party.

  37. We at BeautyDecrypted are new to the beauty blog scene. Should we just pack up and go home? Are there many people out there like this and is this what we can expect from this community? We're just trying to have some fun.

  38. Love your blog and the blogs of the women she trashed so it made me very angry to read her crap but I guess some people have nothing better to do in their miserable, pathetic lives than to tear other more talented individuals down. Glad you spoke out about this!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hit the nail on the head here sweetie! Twunt is an awesome word and totally needed. I swear this stuff is supposed to be a fun hobby...

    ReplyDelete
  40. Totally stunned! I tried not to spend more than a quick moment looking at that garbage - and felt guilty all along that we were providing any traffic at all. Makeup is fun - you, sirvinya, phyrra, are some of my best friends and muses whether you know that or not. Love you - keep up the color ladies!!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Obvious troll is obvious? That blog is nothing but someone who *wants* your attention. You guys linking to her is giving her the delicious traffic they want. I'd remove all posts linking to them and 100% ignore them personally. (Also, a quick Google on the person reveals they have barely existed on the internet since early 2011 as a commenter on Totalbeauty and makeuptalk which leads me to believe an alias taken on which usually = troll...however, this is a rather epic troll.)

    ReplyDelete
  42. I think my IQ dropped a few points from reading that dumb brat's excuse for a blog. It seriously pissed me off and then I got more pissed for letting it get to me. I can't help but wonder if it's for real. With the amount of hits and comments the blog is getting...it seems like we're just egging her on and giving her the attention she so obviously is begging for.

Please don't let it stress you out- it's not at all worth your time or emotion! You are beautiful and I love seeing what you come up with. I especially loved seeing a picture of your little girl. What a sweetie!
    Please keep it up.
