I'm baaacccck! *Said in the creepiest voice possible!* I haven't made a "real" post in 12 days! That is sad.
So, moving on, let's just jump right in! I've been a huge fan of Evil Shades for just over a year now. ES was one of the first "indie" makeup companies I purchased from because there was an eyeshadow called "Zombie." I soon made a lasting friendship with Andrea, which continues today. Over the past year, I've watched ES grow and seen Andrea come up with some of the most unique and pigmented colors out there. To my delight, I was contacted by Andrea, and asked to do a review of Evil Shades. Honestly, I don't think the reviews recently of ES have done the company justice. Andrea has worked very hard, competing with all the new up and coming indie companies, and has held her own in the most amazing and evil way!
What's in this inconspicuous bag you ask?
Ohhh. just THIS!
Andrea sent me an array of products to try, including brand new ones, such as "Dark Princess" lipstick and a few eyeshadow and samples from the new Arcane, Faerie and Summer Lights collection! I was also able to try out the newish primers!
(Please click pictures for maximum goodness!)
One of my very favorite products that Andrea sent me was "Atomic" blush! Described on the website as a "Hot orange cooled down with a blue shift." This blush is so cool! I see the blue shift, but also tons of pink sparkle (which was hard to capture in my photos.)
I am TELLING you, that picture does NOT do this blush any justice!
Also, the full size jars came packaged with teeny little stickers as seals on each side of the jar. I really don't mind this! It keeps from spillage in route (Andrea doesn't add sifters, which means your getting MOAR product!)
So, let's move on to the GOOD stuff..
I adore the Faerie colors, especially Faerie Dance and Faerie Kisses. Amulet and Voodoo (from the new Arcane Collection) are pretty amazing as well! I swatched all the colors over Evil Shades primer in "Nude."
(descriptions from website)
Faerie Dance:Bold cobalt blue with aqua sparkles
Faerie Kisses: Cheerful, bright coral with a rose pink shift Amulet: Deceptive pink shifting wine- morphs to a deep metallic blackened pink fandango
Voodoo: Wicked bold hot pink- arises as a shimmering hot pink hiding purple and pink sparkling bursts. (reminds me just a little of Phyrra's Fantasy but deeper!)
When I look at the color below, I think of Robyn from Stay Beautiful!
I usually have trouble with purple lipstick not covering my lips, especially in the lower middle. I think my lips are TOO big! I was super impressed that Dark Princess did NOT do this, even after a few minutes of wear. I'm excited to experiment more with it. I also LOVE "Not Your Barbie"! Each lippie has a light scent, but nothing overpowering.
Some random thoughts:
I love Andrea's new packaging and labels. I especially love the new way she's packaging lippies!
I have nothing negative to say regarding this review, as everything is amazing! And, I've always loved ES.
Samples come in clam shells. Some love them, some hate them. But, there is more than enough product to depot into a 3 gr. jar or into a sample baggie.
Because Andrea is wanting to keep overhead and cost down, you may see "stickers or tape" on some of your products for closure purposes. It's just a means to prevent spillage and not an unsanitary eyesore.
Andrea just released a brand new product called "Spectrum Pots" which are to rival paint pots or jumbo eyeshadow pencils. This is EPIC! And they only cost $4.50 for a 3 gram jar! I am totally STOKED about this and can NOT wait to try them! There are currently 6 colors to choose from!
