Yo! So today, I have ANOTHER nail polish post for you. Dare I say, I'm digging this new venture..
I was recently contacted by Julep and asked if I'd be interested in reviewing one of their "intro" boxes. I was a little hesitant because of some of the things I've read about Julep until my bestie eased my mind. I decided to go for it, because actually, somethings in it for my readers too. HOW COULD I RESIST.
I received the "Intro Maven" Box to review. It contained nail polish in "Emilie" and "Sienna" and a 3 oz. Facial for Hands hand scrub. "Emilie" is a not yet (well as of 2 weeks ago) Fall color. It's a creme medium green. "Sienna" is a shimmery (over the top) gold.
The "Facial for Hands" is a glycolic hand scrub/exfoliater for hands, for softer and younger feeling and looking digits. (My descriptions)
Though neither of these colors SHOUTED my name when I opened the cute little bag they came in, I was surprised at just how easy they were to work with and how opaque they became in just one coat. (Obviously I used two because that's how I roll.)
This here is Emilie- Like I said, a medium green creme. I took this photo in the sunlight, so it's a little darker in real life. I think this color would be awesome if you layered a red, silver, or gold glitter over it. Also a great base for stamping. Or, if you like greens...wear it alone.
This here is Sienna- OK..this color is beautiful, IF you like gold. I happen to not like gold and felt like I was wearing disco balls on my fingers when I applied it. The application was wonderful however and I could totally see this color stamped over Emilie or a deep red for Christmas. (I added WnW's "Diamond in the Rough" to my accent nail.) I had minimal chipping and wore this color for at least 4 days.
I really like the size of the bottles. They are .27 fl oz. They seem great if you have limited space for your nail polish collection. Also, one the side of each bottle, is a "cut out" in the paint so you can see the color if you have them lined up together. I thought that was really neat.
I used the hand scrub once so far. There isn't much of a smell BUT there are exfoliating bits and I have some issues with the way it feels when I rub it on my skin. (This is me, I'm weird with smell and texture.) But after I used it and rinsed my hands, they did feel softer. I'll give it a go and let you all know yay or nay for sure.
The cool thing about the Julep program is that upon signing up, you take a quiz to determine your "style" will then you receive two nail polishes each month and an extra such as the hand scrub that fit your style, in a cute little brown paper bag with a bow. If you don't like the colors chosen for you, you can request a "shelf pull" and will be directed to different color options. All from your Julep online account.
The nail polish retail for $14.00 (which I would never pay) but you get the box for $19.99 a month (valued at over $40.00), which is charged right to your credit card.
If you decide to start the program today, use the code "WENDI" at check out to receive your first Julep Maven Sneak Peek Box for just $5! (valued over $40).
Have you tried Julep? What are your thoughts?
