*!Twinkle Misfit LOTD!*

Happy Monday Zombies....

Meh. I am sleepy. I am bored. I am nervous. I am annoyed. I am just blah today. FUN!

So..what else do I do when I'm annoyed, but play IN my makeup! A little while ago, I saw a post from KimmieKarmaLove where she'd used Fyrinnae's "Darling Misfit" over NYX's Black Bean jumbo pencil. It looked really hot, and I decided to try it today, with a little twist. I LOVE the way this came out. Thanks for inspiring me Kimberly!

Please help Amanda and Kyle Franklin!

Hello Zombies!

It's with a heavy heart that I write this post. And it isn't about makeup.

Please watch this video HERE to first see what I am going to be writing about.

I grew up with an went to high school with Kyle. Back then he was the shy, skinny kid in stone washed jeans with a great smile. He drove a Delorean back then talked fondly of his father in art class. The kid was going somewhere.

I've only recently connected with Kyle again after years on the good old Book of Faces! And I've found it fascinating to follow he and his wife's lives in the air show business. When the video of the crash appeared on FB, I was mortified. I didn't know the extent of Amanda's injuries until just a few days ago. My heart is broken.

Because of the tremendous and painful road to recovery ahead of Amanda and Kyle, I implore everyone to find it in their hearts to donate (if you can) to their fund. I wanted to do something and this was the best thing I could figure out. I know there is the Japan disaster going on right now, but there is also people such as Amanda and Kyle, who in a blink of an eye had their lives turned upside down forever. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Per the Franklin's website- there are two funds set up for Kyle and Amanda:

MOONLIGHT FUND
www.moonlightfund.org and specify the Kyle & Amanda Franklin Fund. You can also send a check to the Kyle & Amanda Franklin Fund, c/o The Moonlight Fund, PO Box 1299, Bandera TX 78003. The Moonlight Fund is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides 24/7-assistance to burn survivors and their families in their hour of need.

Make your check or money order payable to the ICAS Foundation, and indicate "Kyle and Amanda Fund" in the memo section. You may also donate by credit card call the ICAS Foundation Chairman, Caroline Trinkwalder, at 734-595-0864 or call ICAS headquarters (703-779-8510) with credit card information.

Amanda and Kyle are constantly in my thoughts and in my hearts. Speedy recovery to both of you!

Swatch Spam! Covergirl Lip Perfection Lipsticks!

Good morning Zombies!

Who's ready for a little:

?

Last weekend I was perusing the makeup section of my local WalMart and noticed a plethora of new lipstick colors from Covergirl. I picked up 3 colors that caught me eye first off! I wasn't expecting much from them until I got home and swatched them, I was BLOWN away! These babies are super pigmented and SUPER creamy and for $5.95, I am very excited about this!

My only complaint is that there is a slight taste to the lippies. It probably won't bother the normal person, but I have a huge smell taste issue when it comes to cosmetics, so it slightly bothers me. Not enough to not wear them. I am very impressed, as it seems Covergirl is stepping up their game these days!

Luckily these bad boys can be purchased wherever Covergirl is sold or on the Covergirl website!

Have you tried the new Lip Perfection lipstick from Covergirl? What's your favorite color(s)?

The 7 Deadly Sins...Lust and Chastity!

Hey Zombies!

A few weeks ago, Amanda over at The Eyes Have It and I came up with a kick ass idea to base looks around the 7 deadly sins. To spice it up a little, we also decided to pair the "sin" with it's not so sinful counterpart. Last week we took on Vice and Virtue.

This week is Lust and Chastity!

I choose Chastity!

My shirt says "I KNOW WHAT BOYS WANT!"

Silk Naturals Review and !SWATCHES!

Hello Zombies!

I am SO stoked to do the following review. I'd heard of Silk Naturals before and seen various swatches among the blogging world, but for some reason never made a purchase. I was excited when I was contacted by Silk Naturals and asked if I was interested in a review. Let's just say...HELL YES! Shipping was super fast. Karen shipped on a Friday and I got them the following Monday. Karen (the owner of Silk Naturals) chose the colors for me and well...she chose well! She sent a little note stating she chose some colors for the Zombie and some for the SAHM in me! Excellent! Oh, and check them out on Facebook for some fun!

(Please click photos for maximum goodness!)

It seems I was sent some eyeshadow from the core line, as well as some colors from the new "Spring 2011" collection.

(Above photo courtesy of Silk Naturals.)

I adore these eyeshadows. Not only are the colors complex, but they are so buttery and easy to blend. Even Coal, which is a matte black, went on like a dream. I adore Watermelon and Flame as they both have a nice blue shift to them. Cupcake is so fun and sparkly too. And you gotta love Meteor!

Ingredients for eyeshadow per the Silk Naturals website:

Eye Shadows
Mica, titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, silk powder, magnesium stearate, boron nitride, silica and pigments. May contain: iron oxides, ultramarines, chromium oxide green, manganese violet, tin oxide, ferric ferrocyanide, carmine

Colors that contain carmine- Bewitched, Brimstone, Breathe, Cabana, Hint, Plush, Poly, Orchid, Satin, Taffeta, Velvet, Idolize, Bewitched, Bargain Pink, Disco, Lurid, Nekkid, Sierra, Mink, Wink Wink, Nudge Nudge, Naughty, Whisper
Colors that contain ferric ferrocyanide- Butterfly Blue, Sapphire, Sizzle, Idolize, Lake, Eerie

Please note: We are in the very long process of changing our eye shadow formulas- our new base will be the vegan eye shadow base- the only new ingredient is magnesium myrsistate to help with adhesion. We will update them as the formulas are changed. The shadows that contain carmine will not be changed (nor will any of our other formulas for anything else- everything else stays exactly the same ).

Vegan Eye Shadows: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Magnesium Myrsistate, Magnesium Stearate, Boron Nitride, Silica. Also contains: Iron Oxides

I also really like how each color is listed on the website. The listing are so informative and include color discription, picture and swatch of color, ingredients, color family, finish, price, etc. Makes shopping SO easy!

These lippies are a dream. The Lip Gloss isn't sticky and the Kisser Slickers are so creamy. They all have a faint non-overpowering smell and the Kisser Slickers are lightly flavored. Again, not overpowering. These are super pigmented, but 4 of the 5 are lip gloss, so it's understandable. My favorite from the group is Azelea.

Ingreidents for lippies from the Silk Naturals website:

Kisser Slicker Lip Gloss-
Certified Organic Castor, Jojoba and Avocado Oils, Beeswax, Candillia Wax, Carnauba Wax, mica, flavor. May Contain: iron oxides, titanium dioxide, carmine, FD&C colors
If you wish to avoid a certain ingredient- please check the individual product listings.

Vegan Lipstick and Lip Gloss:
Ingredients: Certified Organic Castor and Jojoba Oils, Avocado Oil, Organic Candelilla Wax, Cranberry Oil, Raspberry Oil, Passionfruit Oil, Carnuaba Wax. Also contains: Mica, Iron Oxides, Titanium Dioxide, Manganese Violet. Simmer, Sultry, Crimson, Rapturous, and Verve contain FD&C colors
None of our lipsticks contain carmine

Liquid Lip Gloss
Certified Organic Castor oil, Candilillia Wax, Jojoba Wax, Carnuaba Wax, Organic Coconut Oil infused with Vanilla and Stevia. Also contains mica, iron oxides

Modern Poet, Rouge, Summer Fling, and Copper Rose have just a tiny smidge of FD&C color (less than you would get from a glass of Kool-Aid in the entire batch). Frolic, Ice Princess and Iced Mocha contain small amounts of carmine.

A few other interesting facts about Silk Naturals: (courtesy of Silk Naturals)

  • We make every single cosmetic and skincare product by hand, from scratch, (no premade bases at all) wit the exception of mascara and the creamy eye primer- those are private label products.
  • We have a points and rewards program where customers get a $5.00 discount for each $100.00 they spend.
  • Our foundation is unique- we provide white bases, and tinted powders and allow customers to mix their own perfect match. Jen, our former moderator, is a whiz at helping people find their perfect recipe.
I am super impressed with Silk Naturals and WILL be placing an order once I have some extra cash!  I can not wait to do some looks with my new pretties.

I give Silk Naturals 5 out of 5 Zombies!
