The 7 Deadly Sins...Gluttony and Temperance!

Why hello Zombies!

The week is finally, kinda, almost over!

It's been a while since I've done a 7 Deadly Sin post, but it should be back up and running as normal soon.

The next deadly sins are Gluttony and Temperance.

Gluttony, derived from the Latin gluttire meaning to gulp down or swallow, means over-indulgence and over-consumption of food, drink, or intoxicants, or makeup to the point of waste.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gluttony OK, so I added "makeup."

This is my take on Gluttony.

 Look sans that "taped lips."

*Beauty from the Earth Review* and SWATCHES!

Happy Hump Day Zombies!

I was recently given the opportunity to review some eyeshadow from Beauty from the Earth. I've heard and seen lots from this company, but like a few companies I've WANTED to try, I never got around to it. After swatching the colors, I see that I waited far too long!

I was sent a tin of 16 sample jars, plus a full size eyeshadow to review. The tin is SUCH an awesome idea, and now I have storage for my BftE eyeshadow!

Ok..Now, do you see what I mean by waiting too long to order? Just LOOK at these colors! OMFG. I do know, because it's on the website, that a few of the colors are basically straight pigment (mainly the primary colors) but shit who cares?! At least you KNOW that before purchasing.  Ingredients are also listed next to each eyeshadow description.

A full size eyeshadow is $6.50 and a sample jar (like the one's shown) are $2.00.

I do not own a color like Shopaholic or Super Heat. And I can't freaking WAIT to try out Blue Bird and Sunning together. Illusion and Sugar Plum are also very stunning!  The colors were so easy to apply (swatched of Pixie Epoxy) and even with their stupendous pigmentation, washed right off. When I say pigmented people, I mean pigmented and packed full of awesome and win! Oh..and lots and lots of glitter!

Each week, BftE offers a Color of the Week (COTW), which is a full size color at the sample jar price of $2.00. What a great way to try out the product.  Also, check out their Facebook Fanpage.

I am absolutely stoked to have been given the opportunity to try BftE.  And I will absolutely purchase a shit ton of pigments from them! Run people, RUN to the website and grab some of these colors!

Jumping on the makeup buying hiatus!

Zombies!

As MOST of you know, I've recently moved into a new house and I have 3 kids. I also stay home all day with 2 of the 3 and my life is now officially insane! (It was before, but now even more.) Because of this, I've decided to go on a makeup hiatus. I'm not going to label it a "no buy" because I'll feel guilty breaking it, should I happen to find something on sale that I can't live without. (Like THAT would happen. *evil grin*)

So, I'm going to focus mainly on playing with the makeup I already have. I'm enjoying doing looks more these days over reviews. I think it's because I've swatched and seen SO MANY colors and a lot of them are so similar that I'm having a hard time finding something unique about them all. And that's sad. So, what I need to do is TRY them on my face, so I can tell a unique difference.

I, of course, will review products if they have already been sent to me, and if I am asked. (I'm not gonna be a total stick in the mud! GAH!) And I will continue to do swatches of things I ALREADY OWN! (Like the 10 new Zoya polishes I'm waiting on. THANKS MEGAN!)

I also want to focus on my new house, and the fact that I have like 10 rose bushes out front that need attending to during the summer, and a backyard that hasn't been maintained in I'd say at least 5 years, the screaming banshee that is my 2 year old son, and taking care of own mental and physical health (I am weaning myself off of Zoloft because the crap has decreased the desire to do one of the most important things in a married couple's life (besides sleep).) I'll probably avoid some potential fights with the husband as well.  So, all that said, we'll just see how it goes! I'll keep the blog fun and exciting..I just won't be spending as much money. (So, all you makeup companies out there, please do NOT make really awesome things that I may want, k? thanks.)

I leave you with this picture. It's how I'm feeling right now.

Happy Sunday Zombies!

*Bokeh Face* Review and SWATCHES

Happy Easter Zombies!

I hope you're all having a nice day. It's overcast and windy here and looks like it might decide to dump some rain on us.

I was recently given the opportunity to review a new indie mineral makeup company "Bokeh Face."  I immediately googled the word "Bokeh" cause that's how I roll.

Bokeh: The Japanese word Boke derived from the verb "bokase" meaning to smudge or make blurry. Pronounced BO-KEH in English. The blurry, or out of focus region behind a subject is called the bokeh. A pleasing bokeh is one which has soft, round edges to the objects. ...
www.charliezimmerman.com/glossary.shtml

The owner Natalie of Bokeh Face sent me 10 clam shell samples of eyeshdaow, one full size eyeshadow, 2 sample "Amazing" blush, and 1 sample "Featherweight foundation".

I am not a huge clam shell person, so I didn't photograph the eyeshadow in their packaging, because I am a klutz and would have knocked them all over my table.

The full size jar came shrink wrapped, with a sticker over the sifter.

I love Bokeh's packaging! It's the label adorable? Full size 5 gram sifter jar is $5.00.

As you can see, there is quite a bit product in the sample blush clam shell.

(Eyeshadow swatched over Fyrinnae's "Pixie Epoxy")

My favorites from the group:

Octopus: Muted orange with a green shift. It's really unique
Lumpy Space Princess: Lilac with purple glitter and I mean LOTS of purple glitter
Golden Snitch: Medium Golden shimmer (leans warm)
Hurricane: Teal, but in my opinion, not just any teal. It's got the most awesome green shift EVER!
Glass Slipper: I can see this nice white shimmer being my new go to highlight color!
Amazing Blush Lotus: a Lavender blush!!?? What the what? I can't wait to use this!

Per the Bokeh Face Artfire store:

Ingredients:
Mica, Silica, magnesium stearate, magnesium myristate, iron oxide
May contain:
Titanium Dioxide, Boron Nitride, Black #2, Copper Powder, Silicon Dioxide, Ferric Ferrocyanide, Tin Oxide

ALL ingredients used are approved for cosmetic use are are *both* eye and lip safe unless otherwise noted! ** As with any cosmetic,** DISCONTINUE USE IF IRRITATION OCCURS! IF IRRITATION PERSISTS, PLEASE SEE A DOCTOR! IF you have any questions whatsoever about ingredients, please do not hesitate to contact me!

And my thoughts? Each eyeshadow is so pretty and last a long time. I think they each have just the right amount of shimmer and/or glitter. I am especially impressed by the pigmentation of Hurricane and Octopus and the ease in which each color sent was swatched. The foundation was a little too light for me, but did settle into my skin nicely. The blushes are also both very nice and pigmented. I can't wait to use them on my cheeks. I also think the prices are reasonable and the products are not repackaged.

**And right now, if you order from Bokeh Face and enter code zombieblog, you will receive 10% off your entire order! I hope you find something you just can't live without!**

Also check them out on Facebook!

*The products above were sent to me for review purposes only- opinions are my own.*

Blond Hair and Smokey Eyez!

Zombies!

Ahhh, how I've missed you all, and it's only been a week. lol

I was going to wait until this weekend to do any blogging, but I kept looking at blogs and swatches, and well, decided to put on my face today. I'm featuring all Darling Girl Cosmetics on my eyes. I am so bummed that my camera didn't pick up the 3 individual colors I used and all the pink glitter in the shadows. :(   Regardless, here's a post to show off my makeup and my hair too.

Hair down. I love the red mixed into the blond. Someone compared it to a Calico cat and that just cracks me up! My bangs are buggin' the shit out of me though.

The Goods:

Darling Girl Cosmetics "Groovology" inner lid and down into lower lash line
Darling Girl Cosmetics "Lap Dance" middle and outer lid and down into lower lash line

So what do you think of the hair? And of  Darling Girl Cosmetics?
