Altered Ego Cosmetics Review and !SWATCHES!

Happy ass Saturday Zombies!

I see a rain storm out my window, slowly making it's way toward us. I'm almost positive it's going to bypass us though...

I have an exciting review for you today from Altered Ego Cosmetics! You know, since I started blogging, I've reviewed A LOT of eyeshadow, colors, finishes, etc. And for a while there, I was growing pretty burnt out! It's companies such as Altered Ego that renew my love of eyeshadow. I get super giddy when a color looks "ok" in the jar, but once swatched it's full of sparkles! I love me some sparkles. These eyeshadow are FULL of sparkle goodness! FULL!

I was sent full size colors in Diesel, Aura, and Routine, two clam shells in Heathen and Bullet, and two baggie samples in Beetle and Honeymoon. I apologize for the lack of "product" pictures in this post. I am having lightning issues.

The full size come in 3 gram jars and came with a sticker over the sifter. Full size are $2.75. wait..WHAT?! Yeah, that's right, $2.75! (Be still my heart!)

The packaging is simple, yet cute. I am a sucker for stars, so I was impressed with the labels. Also, the invoice and two baggy samples came in a cute little brown paper bag with a white star sticker to keep it closed. Adorable touch! The jars and clam shells were packed in a black organza bag.

Descriptions per the Etsy store:

Aura: A medium purple with pink undertones with tons of purple and pink shimmer!
Diesel: A shimmery brown with tons of green glitter!
Routine: A dark grey with tons of purple shimmer!
Bullet: An awesome, metallic antique silver with pink undertones and an almost holographic glitter look.
Heathen: A light golden tan with golden shimmer!
Honeymoon: I could not find a description of this color on the website. :/ I think it's a medium taupe color with  gold sparks.
Beetle: A blue green with tons of silver shimmer!

My absolute favorite of this lot is Diesel. It's such a unique color. I love the green shift. I also really like Aura and Honeymoon!

Yes, I'm very excited about this company! The price is GREAT, the colors are unique and soft. They're also long lasting. I swatched the eyeshadow over Pixie Epoxy and they lasted on my hand for a good 4 hours before I finally washed them off. Also, it looks like most, if not all of the colors are Vegan. :)

Oh and guess what?  Use the code ALTERME at checkout for 15% off your order at Altered Ego right now. GO GO- it's only for the next few hours that this code is available. GO!

Have you tried Altered Ego Cosmetics yet? What are your thoughts on the company?

Quick Update!

THIS Zombie has been seriously slacking lately. I have SO much going on in my personal life as well as things I need to review, videos I need to make, that I am just overwhelmed. So, I thought long and hard on what I should do to even things out and get the blog and my creative juices flowing again. (I hate feeling like I'm blogging because I HAVE to, not because I WANT to.) So, what I've come up with, is that I am going to quit doing FOTD's for a little while to focus mainly on my reviews and swatches of the 10 billion things I want to show everyone...but I need your help! If you'd like to guest post on Makeup Zombie with a LOTD, FOTD, or NOTD, please email me at makeupzombie@ yahoo dot com and let me know you're interested. I'll give you more info once you've emailed! I'm going to feature these looks for the next few months until I can get caught up and get my passion back. The sky is the limit, there really is no theme, so get cahrazy so I can showcase you to the world!

Also, once 800 followers have been reached, I'm going to have a massive giveaway! I mean MASSIVE. So please, spread the word. I think I'm only 20 followers away! Which I can't believe by the way, I adore you all so fugging much! If you're a company and would like to donate to this giveaway, please email me at makeupzombie@yahoo dot com.

Tomorrow I will be reviewing Altered Ego Cosmetics, a new indie company and have swatch spam coming up Sunday, as well as my Zodiac look for the week. Stay tuned.

Have a spectacular weekend Zombies! <3

Luminess Air Pro System- initial thoughts!

Good evening Zombies!

Man, I am SO behind on posts, so please bear with me as I try and get through everything in the next couple of days.

I was given the opportunity to try and review the Pro Airbrush System from Luminess Air. And wanted to show you my inital thoughts. I have only tested this system once (on my Mom) so I can not make a definitive review on how it works with my skin tone. I will make several follow up posts to this one.

The system came quickly in a nice box within a box.

And this is what the kit came with:

I love the pretty silver clutch! It holds everything perfectly for easy mobility and storage.

As you can see, the kit includes 4 foundation colors, a primer, a blush, a bronzer, and an airbrush glow. I was also sent 3 eyeshadow colors to try out. (There is also an instructional DVD and handout in every kit.)

The "air gun" and pump are gorgeous! The gun is so shiny and sturdy. This particular model has 3 speeds, allowing for light, medium, or full coverage foundation. The air pump itself is white with an embossed butterfly decal on the front. Gorgeous!

I found this quite easy to use. At first, being unfamiliar, I applied TOO much foundation on my subject, but it was an easy fix and I was able to blend the foundation with the gun without having to touch her face with a brush to blend. The blush DID come out heavy, but I think it was because it was the complete wrong color for my subject's skin tone. You also MUST make sure you shake, shake, shake the bottles to blend the product, as it seems to settle.

I had fun applying the eyeshadow as well. With a light hand, you can create just as fun a look as you would with brushes and regular pan/ loose eyeshadow. Same with the bronzer!

I most likely would never use this product on a daily basis (on myself) because it is quite pricey and I know the foundation and eyeshadow are a bit out of my price range as well. I think this kit would be amazing for a professional makeup artist and I'm actually considering offering my services for proms or special occasions with this airbrush. It was fun, it was easy, and it took a fraction of the time to apply the foundation as compared to my normal makeup routine.

Let's compare before and after, shall we?

As you can see, the foundation (Shade 3) DID cover some of the more noticeable age spots on my lovely Moms face. It also gave her skin a subtle radiance and evened out the appearance of some of the deeper lines and wrinkles. I truly didn't notice this fully until I studied the before and after pictures closely.

I am excited to try this on myself and see if my opinion changes about 'daily usage.' I will do a series of posts, so please stay tuned.

Would/have you tried and airbrush makeup system? What are your thoughts?

Wet n Wild "Greens"!

Happy ass Saturday Zombies!

I was recently sent 2 of the ColorIcon trios and 1 ColorIcon single eyeshadow from Wet n' Wild to swatch and review for you all. I'm stoked about the two palettes especially. I was also pretty blown away by the single!

The palette's are so compact!

I do love Wet n Wild eyeshadow and have since the ColorIcon line came into play. The colors are soft, pigmented, unique, last a long time, and won't break the bank! It's fun that the suggestion of where to put the different colors is stamped into the eyeshadow in the palettes. I wonder HOW many people actually stick to the suggestions?! hehe

The single was surprising..I've never purchased a single eysshadow from Wet n Wild and I was very impressed with the color pay off. I also really loved the metallic sheen to the green. Very very spot on to what you see in the pan.

The ColorIcon trio's are $2.99 each (USD) and the ColorIcon single eyeshadows from Wet n Wild are $1.99 each (USD).

As always, Wet n' Wild has my heart and I don't see them breaking it anytime soon.

Age of Aquarius: Zodiac Collab with Snarky P!

I want this first say that I am sorry that this post is late. Yesterday all day I thought it was Friday..and then when I realized it wasn't, the whole Vera thing happened, and it just sucked my soul out of my face. So, I decided (late) tonight to throw together my Age of Aquarius look, just to get it up here.

It's not that great, and I changed my hair. Not happy with it either. *sigh* It's just one of those days.

Traditional Aquarian Traits

Friendly and humanitarian

Honest and loyal

Original and inventive

Independent and intellectual

On the dark side....

Intractable and contrary

Perverse and unpredictable

Unemotional and detached

No, this has absolutely nothing to do with the Aquarius sign of the Water Bearer, but the color associated with Aquarius is Turquoise. Age of Aquarius from Hi-Fi is a blue based shadow with TONS of turquoise sparkle. Very fitting.

The Goods:

Evil Shades Spectrum pot in "Gamut Blue" as base
MAC "Blue Flame" from Style Black, blended into lid
Hi-Fi Cosmetics "Age of Aquarius" patted on top of Blue Flame and into lower lash line
MAC "Shroom" as highlight
Random liners and mascara
MuFe aqua liner in "Turquoise Blue" for the dots

MAC "Well Dressed"

Morgana Cryptoria "Plumeria"

So, you wanna see Amanda's take on Aquarius? Check out her post HERE!

I hope you're all having a nice Friday. More tomorrow.

Bronzed Goddess for Nymphette!

Hey all!

So, unless you live under a rock, like that Geico dude, you've probably seen the gorgeous Nymphette's Monthly FOTD Challenge. There are so many fun ideas that I couldn't help but jump on the bandwagon. Problem is, I was looking at Thursday, instead of Wednesday (I'm a bit of a derp at times) and did the look for tomorrow. HAHA! I'm gonna post it anyway, because I have the series post tomorrow anyway. :D is my take on "Bronzed Goddess!"

I didn't get terrific pictures, but it's because I had a migraine all day.

The Goods:

Urban Decay Book of Shadows II

Main lid: "YDK"
Above crease "Twice Baked"
Into crease: "Perversion"
Inner corner: "Hal Baked"
Lower lash line: "Ecstasy"

Urban Decay liner in "Bourbon" for upper lash line and "Zero" in water line

NYX lip liner in "Mauve"
Hard Candy Glossaholic lipgloss in "Lush"

Maybelline Mineral Bronzer Powder in "Sunlight Bronze"

This is fun! I encourage everyone to check out Nymphette's blog and come up with some of the looks on your own!

Milani Paint Palette Review and Swatches!

Happy Tuesday Zombies!

I have a special review today and SO excited to bring it to you!

The new Milani Paint Eyeshadow Palette!

Descriptions per website:

• Fashion forward neon colors

• Super-soft, silk-like application

• Use shades separately or blended together to create your own unique hue of art

Available in One Multicolor Palette

This palette is limited for July only- and if you're wanting matte neon colors (which I'm sure are FDA approved- I tried looking and couldn't find a "no") for a cheap price $7.99 USD), I'd pick this bad boy up!

I like the packaging, though it's slightly bulky. it is nice that all the colors are in one place though!

The colors ARE matte, so they are a bit chalky- but were easy to apply with my primer and creamy base. It was hard to get any pay off from the purple and green, even with a brush packed with product. The orange, pink, and white stole the show!

*lips: Wet N Wild "Just Peachy"

As you can see from my eye, the purple (which is in the middle of my lower lash line), green (outer lower lash line), and yellow (inner corner) were pretty hard to get any color payoff from. I ADORE the orange! I do not have a matte orange or pink, so I'm happy for those two shades.

Overall, I think this is awesome, since it's hard to get ANY approved neons in the US. Can someone verify for me that this is FDA approved? I like the colors, but will probably only use a few. I would definitely spend $7.99 on this palette. BUT, it's limited edition, so if it's for you, head to your local Walgreen, Rite Aide, CVS, or wherever sells Milani and grab this up!

Have you tried this palette? Thoughts?

I also have a small favor to ask! I was nominated for a blog award in the category "Best Reviews" and was hoping maybe you'd hop over and vote for me. I'm in the category with some great bloggers, so it's a tough choice. But I'd appreciate it!

Have a terrific day Zombies!
