Detrivore Cosmetics review, swatches, and LOTD!

Hey Zombies!

This post has been a long time coming. I've been meaning to purchase from Detrivore Cosmetics forever, but never seemed to get around to it. It was one of *those* companies that was there and I knew it was good but for some reason I just never took the plunge. Well, I finally did.

I took part in their buy 3 full size eyeshadow for $10.00. I was also sent 3 sample baggies with my order as well! Full size eyeshadow are $4.00 normally and samples are $1.00. (Samples are super generous!)

I ordered: (descriptions from the website)

Omen: Omen is a medium purple satin eye shadow.
Sphinx: Sphinx is a satin copper eye shadow loaded with gold sparkle.
Brine: Brine is a bright blue-green aqua color.

And received the following samples:

Damage: Damage is a rose colored eye shadow with gold shimmer
Revenant: Revenant is a deep green satin eye shadow
Midas: Midas is a deep rich golden yellow satin

I forgot to swatch Sphinx with the lot, because well...my son lost it for a minute.. *sigh*

*swatched over Hi-Fi Cosmetics Shadow Fix*

O M G. The first thing I noticed right away was the buttery smoothness of these eyeshadow. They were SO easy to blend and glided right on my skin. Also, the pigmentation.  Incredible. Especially Midas. I have trouble with yellow colors and this one is freaking off the CHAIN! (haha) It is so smooth and gorgeous. Damage would make a gorgeous blush. It's got beautiful gold shimmer throughout and is so soft. Sphinx is wonderful and so shimmery. And  There is glitter in it, but it's not over the top at all. Brine...what can I say? Gorgeous! I am so pleased with my order, I WILL be placing another one as soon as I can.Detrivore is definitely one of my top 5 favorite indie makeup companies now!

I also did a look today using Brine and Omen. (How could I not?!)

The Goods:
TFSI
NYX jumbo pencil in "Milk" as base
Detrivore "Brine" inner and middle of lid and into lower lash line
Detrivore "Omen" blended into and above crease and into lower lash line
Sugarpill "Lumi" to highlight and blend and patted on top of lower lash line
Random liner and mascara

Cheeks:
Hard Candy "Living Doll" blush

Lips:
Rimmel "Just So" lipstick

Have you tried Detrivore Cosmetics? What are some of your favorite colors?

Galaxy Showcase for NTMS!

Zombies!

Last week, we had a little "showcase" or "challenge" in my Facebook group Never Too Much Sparkle! to create a look that was "Galaxy" themed. It was completely open to interpretation and was SO much fun seeing what everyone came up with. I wanted to share the looks with all of you! (For the ladies who did a blog post with their look, click on their names to be directed to their blogs and see the full posts.)

A Pre-New Years Resolution...Resolution.

Zombies!

You're gonna see some changes here at Makeup Zombie. In addition to my makeup/nail polish posts, I'm going to begin blogging about my weight loss journey. I have decided (being 32) that I will not go one more year overweight. PERIOD.

I am so lucky, that my mother in law contributed to the cause by purchasing me a treadmill (that I will pay off over the next year) during a black Friday sale today. We set it up this evening and I did my first 30 minute intense workout. It feels GOOD to WANT to do this. It feels good to get winded, feel my legs turning to mush. It feels good to want a big life change.

Yes, I could start a new blog, post about this on Facebook, but you're already a pretty big support system and I've never really been "private" about my life with you lovely readers, so, I decided to take you along on my journey. Makeup Zombie will be the same, just with weight loss posts thrown in.

I have ideas on charts I will post so you can all watch my progress along with me. It will make me accountable and hopefully your encouragement will push me along! I am positively, 100% committed to this (the first time I can *honestly* say this.) The reason I'm so adamant is..I'm having troubles sleeping, I have continual heartburn, I have terrible migraines, and I am just tired.all.of.the.time. I NEED this to be a healthy person, someone my children can look up to and follow my example.

Of course exercise isn't the only change I'm making. My husband and I are going to start a healthier lifestyle. I'm going to experiment with food- eat healthier..and for a few months limit carbs. (Hubs refuses to do this part.) So, we'll see. I hope to look and feel totally different this time next year. Wish me luck, will you?

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
