Urban Decay "Alice Through the Looking Glass" palette!

Hi again Zombies!

Another post! I'm on damn roll. Get it girl!

For those who don't already know, the "Alice Through the Looking Glass" palette is on sale on the Urban Decay website RIGHT NOW for $34.00 (orignally $60.00) and so I snagged it so fast you have no idea!

*as always, please click the images for maximum awesome!

Urban Decay is also offering cyber deals all this week, so make sure you check back every day to see what they are offering. For example, today's deal was the original and anti-aging primer potions for only $8.00 each!

I received my palette earlier this week and decided to crack it open to show all of you wonderful people. To start, here are some photos of the gorgeous packaging! The 20 eyeshdaow are housed in a beautiful box with all kinds of thrills and magic. Once you lift the cardboard lid, you immediately see a nice sized mirror with "We're all mad here" engraved into it.

I felt my Wednesday Addams shirt went well with the theme. ;)

There's a two lovely flaps that can be opened and written on them is "I'm not strange, weird, off, nor crazy, my reality is just different from yours." This palette was seriously made just for me. ;)

a

Once the flaps are lifted, you're greeted with this gorgeous butterfly.

One last touch is the writing on the drawer where you pull the eyeshadow from. This saying is" I know who I was when I got up this morning, but I must have changed several times since then." *heart eyes*

This is what's hidden inside the drawer!

The packaging is gorgeous, yes, but let's take a look at what REALLY matters where.

You also receive a full sized dual ended eyeshadow brush with this palette rocking the same theme as the outside of the box.

SWATCHES! (I swatched over primer potion in "Eden".)

Can we please take a moment to oogle "Hatter", "Lily", "Heads Will Roll", "Duchess", "Dormouse" "Paradox", "Salazen Grum", "Metamorphosis", and "Cake"?! I mean really. These colors are absolutely, stunningly gorgeous! You can see for yourself that every color in this palette is unique and has a beauty all its own. "Lily" is one of my favorites because it's a lovely ivory with an intense pink shift to it. It is AMAZING as an inner corner/browbone highlight. "Hatter" and "Heads Will Roll" have my heart too because, green. DUH! "Metamorphosis" is another one of my favorites. It's such a beautiful periwinkle blue and the pigment is spot on. (Which is surprising because a lot of reviews I read or saw about this color were not favorable.) "Dormouse" and "Chessboard" are gorgeous transition shades or nice for the outer v or to deeper the crease. "Salazen Grum" is my hands down favorite color in this palette. It's a gorgeous shimmery pink/copper and it's so pigmented which paired with "Paradox" is one of the best combos I've ever experimented with! I also love "Cake" because...pink. Overall, this palette is just stunning.

The only eyeshadow that is actually pretty terrible is "Dream On". It's nothing but glitter and very hard to apply, even over a primer. I will try this with some sort of glitter glue or glitter eye adhesive, but I dislike this shadow and really feel the palette could have done without it completely. The flash of the camera does tend to pick up a lot of the glitter and some of the base color, but in real life it looks nothing like that.

I feel like because the palette is on sale now, you should all go pick it up! I don't know that I would have spent the original $60.00 on it, but for $34.00, I couldn't pass it up.

Now...here's a look for you using this palette. It's been way too long since I've played with makeup and posting the look! We need to make up for lost time.

Colourpop Holiday 2016 !Swatches!

Zombies!

Oh my god, it's a blog post! With pictures of new makeup! What has life come to. ;)

I've been on a Colourpop Cosmetics buying spree over the last year (or maybe it's hoarding?) and I figured it was time to start showing everyone the goods. I usually post on Instagram (@makeupzombie) but wanted to give take a more in-depth look at some of my new makeup from Colourpop. Sooo, let's go!

*as always, please click the images for maximum awesome!

Last week, Colourpop was offering free Ultra Metallic lipsticks depending on how much you spent on the site. I ended up spending about $30.00, so snagged two free lipsticks.

I purchased the "Never Not Chillin" set and "Tinsel" supershock eyeshadow which are both limited edition for the holidays. The "Never Not Chillin" set is $30.00 and as with all supershock eyeshadow from Colourpop, "Tinsel" was $5.00.

"Never Not Chillin" contains 5 super shock eyeshadow (two of which I believe are new this year).

Descriptions per CP website:

Peekaboo: Metallic ivory with silver glitter
Desert: Satin warm brown
Thirsty Girl: Metallic bronze with multi-dimensional glitter
Patchwork: Ultra-Glitter turquoise with duo chrome glitters
Fairfax: Matte black brown
Babykins: Metallic burgundy with pink glitter

Tinsel: Metallic finish grayed out icy lavender

The set came in this adorable outer sleeve box and were housed in a round box that looks like a record. I won't like, the packaging is what drew me to this set this most. Well, that and Thirsty Girl, which you'll see down below.

All nestled together!
The "Never Not Chillin" complete set.

Desert: Satin warm brown

Babykins: Metallic burgundy with pink glitter

Fairfax: Matte black brown

Peekaboo: Metallic ivory with silver glitter

Thirsty Girl: Metallic bronze with multi-dimensional glitter

Patchwork: Ultra-Glitter turquoise with duo chrome glitters

Annnnd, we can't forget about "Tinsel"!

Swatches!!

Now let's talk about the two Ultra Matte lipstick that I received for free with my order. I ordered 3- Way and Mugshot.

"3-Way" is described as a plummy pink with gold sparkle in a Metallic finish
"Mugshot" is described as a vibrant rusty red in a Metallic finish

Look at that shine!

All together now!
(The photos are slightly out of focus, so I could really show you the sparkles in the eyeshadows.)

My thoughts!

I am, and have been for some time, a die hard Colourpop fan. I think in the few years I've been purchasing from Colourpop that I have maybe received one or two items that I don't love and use regularly. The buttery consistency and soft texture of their eyeshadow is nothing short of magical and if that wasn't enough, the eyeshadow itself is almost always pigmented and easy to blend.

*Hint, purchase Wet N' Wild eyeshadow brushes to use with Colourpop shadows. The apply them to the lids like a charm and keep you from using your fingers! (Though, I like to pat my CP's on with my fingers for ultimate payoff.)

My favorites in the "Never Not Chillin" set are "Thirsty Girl" because, duh! gold sparkles!, "Patchwork" because of the lovely blue sparkles over a darkened base, and "Babykins". I'm a sucker for sparkles. "Desert" is a great transition color, "Fairfax" is a lovely cocoa brown and would be great to deepen up your crease and "Peekaboo" is a perfect brow bone highlight! I also really like "Tinsel" but found it to be a little less pigmented that I'd expected it to be.

"3-Way" and "Mugshot" are both lovely. Though it looks really opaque in the tube, "3-Way" is pretty sheer and take a few coats to build up coverage. "Mugshot" however is what you see. It's a gorgeous firey rust red (which leans almost pink in certain lighting) and is super metallic on the lips. The Ultra Metallic lipstick are $6.00 on the Colourpop website.

Go forth, if you haven't already, and purchase all the Colourpop. Not only are the products affordable, you're also receiving fantastic quality with each product.

Thank you for reading! I promise I won't be gone for so long!  In the meantime, you can find me on Instagram @makeupzombie and on Facebook MakeupZombie!

Where in the HELL have I been?

Zombies!

I am still alive! Can you believe it? I'm not sure how a whole year got by me without me posting here on the blog. Life has been crazy! Not only do I have my 3 kids and husband, we recently got a new dog we named Rocket, moved into a new house and I've been going to school to finish up me Criminology degree; which I've almost completed. There have been lots of life changes going on and blogging was put on the back burner, sadly. I have so many new and exciting things to tell you and show you (ahem, tattoos!)

I have been hoarding makeup like no one's business though and intend to begin swatching and updating the blog when I can. My makeup spark is coming back, and it's worth it to me to keep MakeupZombie going. I do actively post on Instagram, so please go find me there. My user name is @makeupzombie or you can click on the image below to be directed.

Colourpop Fall 2015 collection!

*all products in this post were purchased by me. All opinions are my own and 100% honest.

Happy ass Monday, zombies!

Unless you live under a rock, I'm sure you ALL know the name Colourpop by now. (Hopefully) Much to my excitement, they recently released their Fall 2015 collection that was a throwback to the 90's with the names and colors in the collection. I immediately snagged 4 of the eyeshadows and 2 of the lippiestix in this new collection.

Let's check them out!  *Be sure to click images for maximum awesome!

I purchased:

Eyeshadow-

Stereo: a blackened burgundy with copper and pink violet duo chrome glitter sprinkled on top in a Metallic finish
Party Time: a dusty mauve grey in Matte finish
Mixed Tape: mid-tone cool grey in a Pearlized finish
Boy Band: an intense red copper in an Ultra- Metallic finish

Lippiestix-

Contempo: a mid-tone dusty rose in a Matte finish
Dazed: a berry red in Matte finish

SWATCHES!

On mah lips!

I can't even tell you how much I love "Stereo". It's such a gorgeous burgundy with tons of sparkle that actually shine through when the eyeshadow is blended down. I.love.it! (Especially since all I did (mostly) in the 90's was listen to music and record songs from my stereo to a tape.) Check out those blue sparkles in "Party Time"! It's a great taupe for a neutral eye with a pop of color (EXCELLENT!). "Boy Band" is a great metallic copper. I love the sheen it puts off (The Backstreet Boys would be proud)! "Mixed Tape" reminds me of an overcast Fall sky. (I feel like I need to listen to The Cure while wearing it!)

As always with Colourpop, the eyeshadow are almost like butter. I can't even explain the texture, other than being a fluffy, sparkly cloud of awesome. I love this Fall collection as it is a throwback to some of the best times of my life. The 90's! :D

"Contempo" and "Dazed" are both pigmented and smooth matte lippies. "Contempo" is slightly darker in real life, as opposed to the photo on my lips, but it's gorgeous.

I just adore Colourpop. Plain and simple. Full sized eyeshadow from Colourpop are $5.00 each, lippiestix are $5.00 and Ultra matte lipstick are $6.00. Amazing products at a great price. Get yourself some!
